Minoxidil is a clinically proven treatment that works to help reverse miniaturisation and stimulate new hair growth in those suffering from androgenetic alopecia – also known as hereditary hair loss.
Initially used as an oral treatment, researchers eventually discovered that Minoxidil would be a more effective hair loss treatment if applied topically, in the form of a liquid solution. By delivering Minoxidil directly to the scalp at least once a day, every day, those suffering from hereditary hair loss start to notice hair regrowth and increased volume just three months into the treatment.
Minoxidil is a vasodilator which means it can work to widen blood vessels inside the body. When this is applied to the scalp, the boosted blood flow is able to deliver more nutrients to the scalp to feed the follicles. The use of Minoxidil also appears to stimulate dormant follicles, moving them from their resting phase (telogen) into their growing phase (anagen).
